Aeration

Core Aeration for Lawns

Lawn aeration is one of the most important lawn care services for maintaining a beautiful and healthy lawn. Core aeration services will alleviate soil compaction, thereby allowing nutrients, water, and air to penetrate the soil easier. Loose soil that has been aerated allows the grass’s roots to dig deep into the soil bed. Grass that has an established root system with deep digging roots will be able to tolerate heat and drought stress better than grass with shallow roots.

Core Aeration for Lawns

Lawn aeration alleviates compaction in the soil and should be performed at least once per year, in the spring and/or fall. Core aeration allows vital nutrients, air and water to penetrate the soil. Spring aeration alleviates compaction and stimulates air movement for the summer. Fall aeration helps moisture quickly get down into the root zone and reduces winter desiccation. Summer lawn aeration is not recommended because the sun angle is too high in the sky and can cause damage to the exposed grass roots.
